PDO Threads

IPL/DPL Treatments

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment is used for skin tightening and facelift. It uses ultrasound energy to encourage the production of collagen, which results in firmer skin.

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly. Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cellular damage. While this may seem counterintuitive, the damage actually stimulates the cells to produce more collagen — a protein that provides structure to the skin.

HIFU may not be appropriate for everyone. In general, the procedure works best on people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.

HIFU won’t work as well for people with more severe cases of sagging skin.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, also known as a photo facial, is a way to improve the color and texture of your skin without surgery. It can undo some of the visible damage caused by sun exposure -- called photoaging. You may notice it mostly on your face, neck, hands, or chest.

IPL treatment can be an effective way to treat a variety of skin conditions such as age spots, fine lines, acne and rosecea with difference of wavelength. You're likely to see good results with minimal side effects.

The treated area tends to appear red or pink immediately after the procedure. This colouration may last for between 4 and 8 hours. Patients may experience swelling in the treated areas or mild stinging sensations. Use a cool pack or moist soft cloth to ease the stinging sensation.

During recovery, people should avoid applying lotion or makeup on the treated area until the swelling has gone. People are also advised to moisturize the treated area for at least 3 months and keep up with scheduled maintenance treatments.

IPL treatments take between 15 and 60 minutes depending on the body area.
